Vancouver Real Estate - Downtown Vancouver housing starts at highest level since 1993
Despite all the stormy weather in December that slowed construction; Downtown Vancouver still posted the highest number of housing starts since the mid 1990's.
By the end of December 2007, 20,736 new units were underway, the first time since 1994 that this number has surpased 20,000.
With over all housing prices in Vancouver Real Estate topping $800,000., its the condominiums that all is driving the growth.
Condominiums and townhomes accounted for 16,525 of all new housing starts in the Vancouver Real Estate Market in 2007.

Vancouver House Prices Soar in Q4 2007
Housing prices showed little sign of a typical slow down in Q4 of 2007 rising significantly, Royal LePage Real Estate Services said in a recent report.
They said the average price for a detached bungalow rose 11.6% from the year earlier and the price of a condominium rose 11.7% from the same time last year.
The report attributes this to a very strong economic market with the fundementals being export of natural resources and high level of employment.
Detached bungalow prices in the Vancouver Real Estate market rose 12.4% from the same time last year.
